The seminar will give an opportunity for participants in the energy market to discuss and find out how energy trading companies work in other well established European markets. Aviv Handler
Energy Specialist, ETR Advisory

Aviv Handler is a specialist in the regulation of the commodities and wholesale energy  market providing advice, training and services  in the understanding, preparation and implementation of the regulations. He focuses focus on all streams of regulation including MiFID II, EMIR, REMIT, MAR and general wholesale energy regulation,  as well as applicable rules across the globe. He has domain expertise in compliance , credit risk, commodity and energy trading, derivatives and financial messaging with over 20 years of experience in these fields. He runs a blog at www.energytradingregulation.com which provides updates on European commodity and energy regulatory matters.

Mr. Handler is the Managing Director of ETR Advisory, a specialist consulting company focused on energy and commodity trading regulation. Since being founded in 2013 ETR Advisory has supported over 40 market participants, trading venues and technology companies  in meeting the thicket of regulatory requirements emanating from regulators across the globe. ETR have also trained a large number of people in all aspects of the rules.



Brian Kennedy
Commercial Lead, Gaelectric Trading and Market Services Limited (GTAMS)

Brian is the Commercial Lead for Gaelectric Trading and Market Services Limited (GTAMS). He leads the Power Marketing team for GTAMS and is responsible for originating their Supplier Lite and PPA contracts in Ireland and Northern Ireland, in addition to managing Regulatory Development and Corporate Greening opportunities for the business. Brian holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and has been working with Gaelectric in various roles since 2011.




Elizabeth Sipiere
Chief Operating Officer, Brady plc

Elizabeth joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in October 2016.  The former Chief Executive Officer of Valueworks Ltd, Elizabeth is an experienced B2B technology executive. She has led growth in Microgen, Hewlett-Packard, OMX, Knight Ridder and several private equity backed businesses.Elizabeth has also worked in software for the Financial Services, Construction and TELCO industries including as a Non-Executive Director of Orc Software AB participating in the Orc and OMX agreement to create a new front office product and in the acquisition of Cameron Systems moving Orc into a leading position in the global connectivity market. In addition to her role as a Non-Executive Director, Elizabeth is acting as Chief Operating Officer.




John MacNamara
Commercial & Regulatory Affairs Manager, Bord na Móna 

John MacNamara leads Bord na Móna PowerGen's Commercial & Regulatory Affairs division.  He joined Bord na Móna in 2008 and today oversees PowerGen's regulatory compliance.  In addition, John is responsible for identifying and implementing commercial pathways and strategies to maximise revenues from PowerGen's current and future asset base in the wholesale electricity market.    John has previously worked with the EPA as a senior scientist as well as in the private environmental sector, and he holds a PhD in Combustion Chemistry and an LLB in Irish Law. John is vice-chair of IBEC's Energy Provides Group (EPC), chair of EAI’s Market Committee and also sits on Eurelectric's Work Group for Wholesale Market Design.

Jan Möhr
Energy Portfolio Manager, Brady plc

Jan works as a Solutions Manager within Brady’s Energy division. His background spans across development, systems-integration, consulting, project and product management in the ETRM and energy logistics space. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering for Information Technology and International Marketing (Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing) from the University of Applied Sciences in Jena, Germany.



Karol O'Kane
Senior Regulatory Analyst, ESB Generation

Karol O’Kane is a senior regulatory analyst with ESB Generation and Wholesale Markets specialising in gas market and financial regulation.  Karol represents ESB at both national and international level.  Karol’s current focus concerns changing market structures and tariffing principles. 


Richard Plum 

Richard Plum

Richard Plum is a consultant for Energy Economics and Operations at ProCom. After graduating from RWTH Aachen University in Electrical Engineering, he worked in the energy business as a trend scout for business models and technologies, in the business field modelling and pricing and as an intraday trader. Thus, he gained special expertise in the fields short-term trading and trading strategies for the European power spot markets as well as in the field optimization and energy economic profitability evaluations of assets and portfolios.




Connor Powell
Wholesale Regulatory Lead, SSE

Connor works in Markets Regulation for SSE in Ireland covering power and gas trading arrangements, transmission codes and financial regulation. He provides advice and guidance for SSE’s I-SEM implementation project and liaises with the regulatory authorities on market development and structure. He previously worked for the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) as an advisor covering both energy policy and finance issues.



Dr. Mark Turner
Senior Manager - Energy Advisory, Baringa Partners

Mark is a Senior Manager in Baringa’s Energy Advisory practice, with over eight years’ experience in European electricity markets.  He leads strategic market advisory mandates encompassing regulation and policy, market modelling and analysis, commercial due diligence and asset valuation.  Mark is an expert in the Irish Single Electricity Market, and has advised all the major utilities active in Ireland, lenders, equity investors, large energy users, government departments and regulators including CER and the Irish National Treasury Management Agency.  Recent work has focussed on issues relating to the I-SEM.  Mark led the Baringa team helping a large Irish utility through the I-SEM detailed design process – building internal understanding, supporting consultation responses and advising on strategic implications for the business.
